Trichoderma viride is a biological fungicide that protects crops from soil - borne plant diseases and foliar diseases caused by pathogenic fungi. Trichoderma kills major root rot fungi: Pythium, Rhizoctonia and Fusarium by mycoparasitism.
Trichoderma viride grows on the surface of roots, where it provides disease control and enhances root growth. It protects all the roots for the whole growing season. Chemical controls protect only the seed where they are applied, and their protection lasts, at most a few weeks.
Mode of Action
Trichoderma viride colonizes maximum space and absorbs maximum nutrients available at the target site and there by control the pathogens by starving them for food and competing for space. It also secrete antifungal metabolites which are antagonistic to the pathogenic fungal species and suppress their growth.
Target Disease
Root rot, root wilt, seedling rot and color rot diseases caused by Botrytis sp and other fungal pathogens.
Crops
Flowers, pulses, Pepper, Fruits.
